THE A grade team were at home this week prepared to take on Bright. This week there were a few changes to the line up to mix things up a bit.
We went into the game with poise and passion.
The focus for the day was to go out, enjoy the game & give it our all for our team mates.
The game started out very fast paced.
Goalers Jo Sheridan and Ange Jenkins worked strategically in and around the ring to create space and goaling opportunities in the ring.
The dynamic mid courters Amy Clapham and Natalie Taylor did not skip a beat, working tirelessly to make every opportunity count, keeping composure against their very physical opponents and just playing the game for the full four quarters.
The combination of Lizzie Conrick, Bec Watson and Steph Evans in defence was a new line up this week and they just kept applying relentless pressure on the Bright attack end, making them work for every ball.
Unfortunately, in the end Bonnie Doon went down, but the score certainly didn’t reflect how the game was played. Best on Breanna Barnes Coaches award Maddie Cooksey
IT was a cold and foggy day down at Bonnie Doon, after coming off of a great team effort last week, even without the win the girls were feeling good sitting 6th.
The Bright girls were out to win and they definitely brought their strong game.
The defensive end was strong with Narelle, Stacey and Cass Mac putting pressure on the very accurate shooters.
Mid court was working hard t o bring t he ball down with Molly, Cunningham and Breezer.
Cass Turner’s movement in the ring saw her get the goals in we needed.
Some changes came with Maddie Cooksey into defensive mid court, Cass Mac into shooting and Cass Turner into mid court and the great coach herself Leith back on the court again the dynamics changed slightly and the girls kept pushing.
The scores definitely didn’t reflect the game but the B grade babes defiantly need to lift and keep pushing together.
B RESERVE were determined to continue the winning form from last week but knew it was going to be a tough battle against Bright, who were on equal points on the ladder.
The starting line-up was very different this week due to illness to Mich Tanner, Tracey Webb returning from injury, and Indi McLennan starting in WD while Mel Hillbrick took a breather after umpiring the first two games.
It also saw Leith Azzopardi j oin t he B Res t eam after a number of weeks on the sideline through injury.
The first quarter saw t he shooting combination of Jess Walsh and Sue McCormick back together with both shooting accurately and scoring 5 goals each.
It was a pretty even quarter with Bright taking a three-goal lead at quarter time.
In the second quarter Mel came on into WD.
There were many smooth transitions of play with the mid courters of Loz McGinty (C), Erin Browning (WA) and Mel combining well, along with intercepts and rebounds in defence from Kate Lockwood (GD) and Tracey (GK).
This resulted in Doon leading
