Benalla under 10s push hard for thrilling victory
THIS week, Benalla Hockey Club’s U10s played SYC, finishing with a 6:5 win.
An early goal from Amber Armstrong, Benalla then pushed hard but with a flurry of goals from SYC it didn’t look too promising for Benalla at threequarter time.
With only 10 minutes remaining Zac Fennell scored, then Olly Gillies followed with two goals.
Ayush Singh and Noah Gillies sealed the win with a goal each. Spectators from both teams were thrilled with the comeback.

The U16s started the game with 10 players, but Echuca provided Benalla U16s with a couple of players to enable Benalla to have one on the bench.
Benalla played very well and didn’t give up all game.
Ankur Singh once again won the Subway award for playing well in the half line before dropping back and being our rock in defence.

B Women played Echuca in a hard fought match, but unfortunately weren’t able to take a win home.
All women gave their best in a hard match.
Rachael Young scored a great goal from the spot within the goal circle. Final scores: 3:1 Goals: Rachael Young 1. Umpire votes: Anna Wainwright (3), Prue White (2), Heidi Perry (1).
B Men played Echuca and managed to bag a 5:1 win.
Short on players Willow Plex and Mel Gillies stepped in, both managing to score a goal each.
Dave McIntyre got a goal from a penalty corner, while Martin Gillies scored a goal from a deflection and another from some great teamwork and a bit of running.
