MANSFIELD Library loaned some 4042 items for the month of July. Some 3965 people visited the Library during the same month, with 238 children and 148 adults attending at least one of the specialised 21 programs offered in-house.
THE sale of Reserve Lot 2, 23 Redgum Drive was settled last month. The land is a 140 square metre block that was originally set aside as a tree reserve, but with the tree having fallen down some time ago was deemed superfluous to council needs. The revenue from the sale will be treated as general revenue.
Weeds and pests
THE Mansfield Shire Council has completed its Roadside Weeds and Pest Control Program yearly acquittal report for the State Government. The report is a condition of the $21,485 funding provided by the State Government. Mansfield Shire Council contributed a further $20,000 towards roadside weed control. In 2017-2018, 135km of roadside weed control works occurred in the following areas; Ancona road, Dry Creek road, Glen Creek road, Maintongoon road and adjoining roads, Harpers road, Johnsons road, Lake Nillahcootie road, Tabletop road, Sawpit Gully road, Reynolds road, Howes Creek road and adjoining roads, Monkey Gully Road, Howqua River road and Howqua inlet region. A panel of contractors have been appointed to deliver roadside weed control works in the upcoming 2018-2019 weed control season.
Tiny, but no house
AN investigation by the Mansfield Shire Council into a ‘tiny house’ on a farm property revealed that the ‘house’ was in fact legally registered as a caravan. The owner was advised that a camping permit application would be required due to the length of time the caravan was being used.
FOLLOWING the successful launch of NEVic, Mansfield’s entrepreneurs will have plenty of opportunity for their start up business idea. As part of the program, a number of courses will be run including business boot camps, mentoring, meet-ups and master classes thanks to funding from LaunchVic.
Resheet and Reseal
THE annual Mansfield Shire Council Resheet and Reseal programs are out to tender. The program is expected to deliver approximately 25km of road resheet and 20km of seal renewal. Planning, survey and design has also commenced to the Lakins Road bridge replacement program. The project will be tendered in September. Also, planning and design for the Barwite Road rehabilitation and major patching program is underway. This significant project is expected to be tendered in September.
Emailed rates notice
THE Mansfield Shire Council’s push to have rates notices delivered electronically has so far had 1000 ratepayers register. Those that do not will be charged $3 for each initial notice they are sent, with $6 charged for reminders.
