Mansfield Courier - - NEWS -

A MAN was lucky to escape with his life after being thrown from the 45-tonne excavator he was working in when it tipped and rolled about 70m down a hill in Porepunkah last Friday afternoon. Witnesses reported seeing the excavator rolling three times before it came to rest with the operator thrown out of the window of the cabin. The man was found by colleagues lying injured and dazed in the dirt next to the machine. Paramedics, Bright and Porepunkah Fire Brigade, Victoria Police and SES crews were called out and responded to the scene, stabilising the man and moving him down the steep dirt slope into an ambulance. He was driven to Bright’s Pioneer Park Recreation Reserve and airlifted by helicopter to Melbourne.
