A chal­leng­ing run chase for De­latite CC U16 crick­eters


MANS­FIELD’S De­latite CC un­der 16 team hosted the Be­nalla Bushrangers at Lords on Satur­day morn­ing.

The Bushies won the toss and elected to bat.

De­latite was a cou­ple of play­ers down with gas­tro, so the vis­i­tors gra­ciously leant the hosts a cou­ple

De­latite’s open­ing bowlers Aussie Scott, Lachy Scales and Tom Dun­stan all toiled hard but Luke Dunne and Jack Ful­lager were runs for the open­ing stand.

Scales got the break­through with a sharp di­rect hit runout, Ful­lager on his way for 24.

Dunne com­bined with Bode Stevens to put on an­other 20 be­fore Sam Thom­son struck with his leg spin­ners tak­ing two wick­ets in a row, both bowled.

Dunne was out for a pa­tient 30, but then Stevens com­bined with Henry Se­daya for an­other solid

All of the De­latite bowlers worked hard and bowled a tight line, par­tic­u­larly Sam Bell and Luke Ber­ri­man through the mid­dle overs, the lat­ter even­tu­ally dis­miss­ing Stevens for an at­tack­ing 62 which in­cluded six 4s and a six.

Thom­son and Flynn But­ter­worth com­bined to run out Se­daya for 20.
