Fun run and half marathon a huge success

Mansfield Courier - - Sport -

ANOTHER hugely successful Mansfield Half Marathon and Fun Run was held on Sunday, November 4.

There were 35 runners in the half marathon, 371 in the 10km which included 276 students and teachers from Timbertop who we are sure were very competitive.

There were 79 in the 5km, 129 in the 4km walk, and 76 in the 2km and 1km kids’ runs.

A total all up of 690 entrants took part.

The winning school team this year is Mansfield Steiner School, and the community would like to congratulate them on winning $1000.

The students will have fun deciding what to spend it on, as it does not go into general revenue.

There is fabulous support from the Mansfield community.

A lot of competitors and Timbertop families travel here from far and wide, a lot from Melbourne and surrounds and many from interstate.

There are only a few times a year Timbertop parents get to meet up and this day is one of them.

Once the run is over they get a few hours to spend with their children and head to the restaurants and eateries in Mansfield.

The Mansfield Half Marathon and Fun Run website has links to Tomato Timing for all results and Geosnapshot for some fabulous photos.

A Third Hand volunteers who organise this event look forward to announcing how much money was raised once the books are finalised.

OVER THE LINE: There were plenty of kids involved in the Mansfield Half Marathon and Fun Run on November 4.
