BMX racer is a finalist
LOCAL BMX racer Hayden Fletcher has had a very successful October, which is what landed him a Sportsperson of the Month nomination.
The 19-year-old won two of three race meets in Melbourne, Geelong and Kilsyth, and proceeded to travel to Tasmania where he took out the win in the last round of the Australian National series.
While he has had an absolutely fantastic year on the track, he is looking to head on in to the 2019 National Championships.
These events are set to be held in Shepparton in May next year, where a top three or four finish will qualify him for the 2019 Australian World championship team.
Earlier this year, Fletcher took another step forward in his professional career, heading to America where showed off his talent.
Racing at the USABMX Music City Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee, the 19 year old took the biggest wins of his career, winning two events in the A pro class.
The youngster then returned to Australia in July, where he has since set his sights on the 2020 Olympic qualifying races in Europe and commenced preparations.
