Club cham­pi­onships and pen­nant bowls are rolling along

MOV­ING along at quite a JRRG SDFH DUH WKH 0DQV¿HOG Bowls Club’s pen­nant matches along with sev­eral cham­pi­onships cur­rently be­ing played.

The ladies sin­gles cham­pi­onship fi­nals will be played this com­ing Fri­day with the semi be­tween Lyn Foots against Terri Kil­patrick and Kerri Ni­col against Colleen Christo­pher.

7KH ODGLHV ¿QDO RI WKH SDLUV cham­pi­onship was also re­cently ¿QLVKHG ZLWK .HUUL 1LFRO DQG Colleen Leeds tak­ing out the ti­tle for this sea­son.

The men’s sin­gles cham­pi­onship rounds com­menced on 6XQGD\ ZLWK ¿UVW URXQG ZLQQHUV be­ing Noel Jack­son, George Peter­son, Ray Robin­son, Sid Rev­ell and Gunter Jar­zom­bowski.

As the Vic­to­rian Open cham­pi­onships were be­ing played last week pen­nant matches were sus­pended in­clud­ing the home pen­nant.

6RPH 0DQV¿HOG ERZOHUV took part with George Peter­son, John Foots and Noel Jack­son win­nings their sec­tion of the Men’s Triples but were knocked out in the sec­ond round by only two shots.

In the pairs Jack­son and Peter­son un­for­tu­nately lost out in WKH ¿UVW URXQG

Lyn Foots played in the ladies VLQJOHV DQG ZRQ KHU ¿UVW URXQG but again was un­for­tu­nate to lose RXW LQ WKH ¿UVW NQRFNRXW URXQG

Lyn Foots and Elaine Peter­son played in the ladies pairs where they won one and lost two.

0DQV¿HOG D ¿UVW WLPH VSHFLDO com­pe­ti­tion on the Tues­day of last week – a two bowls ran­dom triple.

Thirty-six play­ers lined up for three games of 12 ends with play­ers swap­ping rinks and teams for each game with prizes be­ing awarded at the end of the day for the best skip, lead and third.

The win­ners on the day Jenny Walsh (lead), Bev Kitchin (third – visit­ing from Lang Lang) and Noel Jack­son (skip).

The day as spon­sored by Cen­tral Gen­eral Prac­tice Med­i­cal Clinic to which the club is very thank­ful.

Rook­ies have com­menced on Mon­day nights with nine teams – six of which are from Tolmie – but there is still room for more to join a night of fun and learn­ing.

No mem­ber­ship or uni­forms re­quired – just come along and have some fun.

The Home Pen­nant com­pe­ti­tion, held on Tuesdays is heat­ing up with the leader board see­ing Pink on top with a score of 16 +25, Blue 12 +14, Orange 10 +3, Gold 8 +17, Lime 5 -1, Yel­low 6 +4, Red 4 -10 and last but not least Green 0 -52.

The club is hold­ing its Christ­mas Party this com­ing Sun­day night with spe­cial guest De­nis Tucker pro­vid­ing some great rock ‘n roll en­ter­tain­ment.

It’s not too late to put your name down for this won­der­ful evening of good food, good mu­sic and lots of so­cial­is­ing; and not for­get­ting the draw of the club’s ma­jor spe­cial ef­fort for $300 of fuel.

Club mem­bers with ticket books are re­minded to re­turn them be­fore Sun­day af­ter­noon.
