Club championships and pennant bowls are rolling along
MOVING along at quite a JRRG SDFH DUH WKH 0DQV¿HOG Bowls Club’s pennant matches along with several championships currently being played.
The ladies singles championship finals will be played this coming Friday with the semi between Lyn Foots against Terri Kilpatrick and Kerri Nicol against Colleen Christopher.
7KH ODGLHV ¿QDO RI WKH SDLUV championship was also recently ¿QLVKHG ZLWK .HUUL 1LFRO DQG Colleen Leeds taking out the title for this season.
The men’s singles championship rounds commenced on 6XQGD\ ZLWK ¿UVW URXQG ZLQQHUV being Noel Jackson, George Peterson, Ray Robinson, Sid Revell and Gunter Jarzombowski.
As the Victorian Open championships were being played last week pennant matches were suspended including the home pennant.
6RPH 0DQV¿HOG ERZOHUV took part with George Peterson, John Foots and Noel Jackson winnings their section of the Men’s Triples but were knocked out in the second round by only two shots.
In the pairs Jackson and Peterson unfortunately lost out in WKH ¿UVW URXQG
Lyn Foots played in the ladies VLQJOHV DQG ZRQ KHU ¿UVW URXQG but again was unfortunate to lose RXW LQ WKH ¿UVW NQRFNRXW URXQG
Lyn Foots and Elaine Peterson played in the ladies pairs where they won one and lost two.
0DQV¿HOG D ¿UVW WLPH VSHFLDO competition on the Tuesday of last week – a two bowls random triple.
Thirty-six players lined up for three games of 12 ends with players swapping rinks and teams for each game with prizes being awarded at the end of the day for the best skip, lead and third.
The winners on the day Jenny Walsh (lead), Bev Kitchin (third – visiting from Lang Lang) and Noel Jackson (skip).
The day as sponsored by Central General Practice Medical Clinic to which the club is very thankful.
Rookies have commenced on Monday nights with nine teams – six of which are from Tolmie – but there is still room for more to join a night of fun and learning.
No membership or uniforms required – just come along and have some fun.
The Home Pennant competition, held on Tuesdays is heating up with the leader board seeing Pink on top with a score of 16 +25, Blue 12 +14, Orange 10 +3, Gold 8 +17, Lime 5 -1, Yellow 6 +4, Red 4 -10 and last but not least Green 0 -52.
The club is holding its Christmas Party this coming Sunday night with special guest Denis Tucker providing some great rock ‘n roll entertainment.
It’s not too late to put your name down for this wonderful evening of good food, good music and lots of socialising; and not forgetting the draw of the club’s major special effort for $300 of fuel.
