New year, new opportunities
THE organisation Startup Shakeup will continue its work this year in assisting people in North East Victoria to either launch a new business venture or improve on their existing ones.
Founded in 2018, this local North East Victorian network is the place for current and future business founders to pitch ideas, gain support from bright minds and potential investors, and access resources.
The need for such an organisation is clear when the imbalance between city and country is highlighted - 93 per cent of Victorian start-ups are based in the Melbourne CBD.
The initiative is possible because of $400,000 funding from ‘LaunchVic’, and the mission is to grow a network of entrepreneurs, businesses, and investors striving to turn big ideas into jobs and opportunities for growth in North East Victoria.
Jump Start Me, in collaboration with Startup Shakeup, is running an Ideas and Startup Validation event series starting in February 2019.
The program is run in the municipalities of Benalla, Indigo, Wangaratta and Mansfield and this year will include networking events and workshops that will connect like-minded movers-andshakers, identify local community problems that could benefit from innovation, and support the founding of innovative new business ventures to shape and grow our region.
The local workshop, Smart Seeds Open, will be held on February 2 at The Sebel, Pinnacle Valley Resort, starting at 10am.
At this workshop participants will be introduced to a set of mindsets, processes and tools that can be used to create solutions to complex local challenges.
The end result will be that people will come away with the capabilities, con¿GHQFH DQG FRQQHFWLRQV they need to transform their ideas into high-value solutions.
“This is a huge opportunity for the communities of Mansfield Shire to collaborate and begin turning ideas into reality,” said Danielle Roberts, economic development assistant at Mansfield Shire Council.
