Dr Seuss comes to Mansfield
CAT in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, The Lorax – the stories of Dr Seuss are familiar to many.
It’s not hard to be enthralled by the magic of Seuss stories with their rhymes, moving messages and often bizarre themes.
Seussical the Musical is MMuDS’ next musical production, coming to Mansfield in November 2019.
Weaving several Seuss classics into one, The Cat in the Hat will act as the narrator, telling the story of Horton the elephant as he faces challenges protecting the Whos from danger while guarding an abandoned egg.
Meanwhile we also follow the adventures of Jojo, a Who child sent away for “thinking too many thinks”, and the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.
With underlying themes of friendship, loyalty, family and community, this isn’t merely a child’s storybook – there is something for everyone.
Director Karen Pirie is among many who are very excited about this next production.
“We can’t wait to bring the stories of Seuss to life on the stage,” said Ms Pirie.
“There are fabulous costumes, some very funny sections as well as some deeper messages behind the humour.
“This is a show for everyone – from small children through to adults.”
An initial information session will be held at the Mansfield Performing Arts Centre at 7pm on March 14.
