Long­est lunch comes to Acheron

TWO re­gions will meld their gas­tro­nomic de­lights in a cel­e­bra­tion of food and home­grown pro­duce as part of this year’s Mel­bourne Food and Wine Fes­ti­val.

Lit­tle River Wines, Mar­ian Ren­nie Gallery and the City of Greater Dan­de­nong will co-host the Re­gional World’s Long­est Lunch at Acheron on March 15 from 12-4pm.

Once again, they will join to­gether to pro­mote busi­nesses and amaz­ing pro­duce from their com­mu­ni­ties.

The event will be held in Mar­ian Ren­nie’s beau­ti­ful his­toric gar­den lo­cated on one of the old­est farm­ing prop­er­ties in the Mur­rindindi Shire.

“We have been over­whelmed by the gen­er­ous sup­port of our spon­sors from both re­gions,” said Mar­ian.

Event co-or­gan­iser, Leanne McCready from the City of Greater Dan­de­nong, said the Re­gional World’s Long­est Lunch in 2018 pro­vided a unique din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence with more than 100 guests sit­ting at one con­tin­u­ous ta­ble; we will be repli­cat­ing that ex­pe­ri­ence with even more food stalls, taste sen­sa­tions and mer­ri­ment on of­fer this year, in­clud­ing a Bol­ly­wood Photo Booth.

“This is an event for se­ri­ous food­ies,” she said.

“Not to men­tion those who ORYH WKHLU ¿QH ZLQHV FUDIWHG gins, beer brews and ciders.

“Both re­gions are es­tab­lish­ing them­selves as thriv­ing food heart­lands.”

Mar­ian will use gor­geous lo­cal in-sea­son pro­duce from the rivers and ranges and blend them with the ex­otic aro­mas and ÀDYRXUV *UHDWHU 'DQGHQRQJ KDV be­come fa­mous for.

Lit­tle River Wines of Tag­gerty will be pro­vid­ing a wine for each course and their cel­lar door will be rep­re­sented with a mar­quee in the gar­den and at other times of the year open to guests by ap­point­ment.

Mar­ian’s art gallery and restau­rant is also open through­out the year by ap­point­ment and for in­di­vid­u­ally de­signed group func­tions.

Bev and Leigh Fraser of Marysville will also be per­form­ing live mu­sic dur­ing the day.
