Skiing program is popular at Mansfield Secondary College
MANSFIELD Secondary College’s Snowsports program commenced the first week back for term three, with 82 enthusiastic participants travelling to Mt Buller for the first day of the 10 week program.
They were ably supported by 14 staff and parents, who all joined in with equal enthusiasm.
While the mountain served up less than favourable weather conditions, all staff and students made the most of the opened terrain and worked well to develop their skills across the skiing and snowboarding disciplines.
Skill development and safety in our Alpine environment are focal points of the Snowsports program.
Many students are looking forward to testing their skills against other students from across the state when they compete in the upcoming Interschools competition to be held at Mt Buller in coming weeks.
Cross country skiing events will be held at Mt Buller on Sunday, August 4, followed by the alpine events commencing with the primary schools’ competition on Monday, August 19; secondary schools events starting on Wednesday, August 21 through to Sunday, August 25.
Students are able to compete across all snowboarding and skiing disciplines in skier cross, boardercross, giant slalom, moguls and slopestyle events.
Students and staff are all looking forward to a great season where fun, fitness, safety and participation underpin the college’s much celebrated Snowsports program.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TERM: Grace Medcalf is one of the Mansfield Secondary College’s students taking part in the 10 week skiing program.
