A decade of leading local Landcare group
DELATITE Landcare Group (DLG) has been active and engaged with Mansfield locals for 30 years, and for the past decade has been facilitated by John Gilson.
But at the recent DLG annual general meeting John stepped down from his position as president, prompting the meeting to turn into a celebration of his dedication to DLG, including the highs and lows we all experience while working to rehabilitate the landscape.
John’s talents in facilitating Landcare groups extend further than DLG.
He is the current chair of the Up2Us Landcare Alliance (the Landcare network within the Mansfield Shire), the chair of the regional Landcare Network within the Goulburn Broken and an active member of the Victorian Landcare team state-wide.
“John has been a legend within Landcare,” Jeremy Madin, new president of DLG, said.
“John is highly innovative, energetic and organised, and warm and engaging.”
Delatite Landcare Group is an active Landcare group with memberships exceeding 100 people.
They have been working on a Paddock Tree project over 2019, highlighting the need for these iconic species, and understanding the complexity of life forms that are hidden within.
DLG and its members would like to thank John for a terrific job done and would like to welcome the effervescent Jeremy Madin to the seat for the next 12 months.
If you have a Landcare query please feel free to contact the Up2Us office on 5779 1593.
RETIRED: After a decade, John Gilson has given up his position as facilitator with the Delatite Landcare Group.
