Un­der 16s win well at home

MANS­FIELD’S De­latite Cricket Club un­der 16 side com­pleted their Round 5 match against Ovens Val­ley CC at the re­splen­dent Lords ground on Satur­day.

The pre­vi­ous Satur­day the home side put in a su­perb bowl­ing and field­ing ef­fort, dis­miss­ing Ovens for just 55 with J Jones mak­ing the bulk of the runs with 33.

Skip­per Sam Bell, Billy Dun­stan and Luke Berriman snagged two wick­ets apiece while Mick Bur­rows and Aussie Scott took one each.

The run chase be­gan in earnest on week one, De­latite fin­ish­ing on 2/38 at stumps.

They picked up where they left off on week two, pass­ing the tar­get of 55 com­fort­ably and mov­ing on to post a sub­stan­tial to­tal of 153.

Top scorer was Archie Storer with 44, with even con­tri­bu­tions of 15, 17, 19 and 22 by Jake Berry, Berriman, Scott and Bell.

An im­pres­sive 10 not out in his first game was reg­is­tered by Ty Stower.

Ovens had an­other bat for eight overs and the runs flowed freely, the day end­ing with them on 1/48, the sole wicket col­lected by debu­tant Stower who sent the bails fly­ing.

O’Mal­ley Pizza Award player of the match goes to Storer for his high­est score to date.

Next round the Mans­field lads take on Greta at the Be­nalla Show­grounds be­fore hav­ing a well-earned Christ­mas break.
