Be careful on the roads

Mansfield Courier - - Bushfires -

THE SES is reminding people that it is as important as ever to be vigilant on the roads, with heavy smoke and haze often reducing visibility.

Not only is there reduced visibility due to smoke, but there will be times of increased traffic due to people evacuating and moving around the Shire.

Some driving tips during bushfires include:

If your vehicle does not have daytime running lights please use your low beam headlights so as you are more easily seen by other road users

Ensure you keep safe distances from vehicles in front of you, a three to four second gap is ideal

Do not overtake unless it is safe

Never drive when you are fatigued

Be prepared for the unexpected; and

Make allowances for others if they make mistakes, without getting annoyed. We are all human and are not perfect.
