THERE was a big turnout for the Aus­tralia Day Cel­e­bra­tions in Mans­field on Sun­day.

Cit­i­zen awards went out to Des Dunn, rep­re­sent­ing the Mer­ri­jig Hall Com­mit­tee, Rory Jenk­ins, Noel Wil­la­ton and Peter Coffey, with brand new cit­i­zens Han­nah Blon­dell and Ji­aqu Zhu wel­comed as fully fledged Aussies.

PER­FECT DAY: A nice crowd turned out on Sun­day to cel­e­brate Aus­tralia Day in Mans­field.

AND THE BAND PLAYED: The MAD or­ches­tra.

ALL RISE: Mans­field Shire sing­ing the na­tional an­them.

WEL­COME: New Australian res­i­dents con­ferred on the day were (from left) Han­nah Blon­dell from Britain, and Ji­aqu Zhu from the Peo­ples Repub­lic of China.

AD­VO­CATE: The founder of the Afghan Australian Devel­op­ment Or­gan­i­sa­tion Dr Nouria Salehi was this year’s Aus­tralia Day Am­bas­sador in Mans­field, pic­tured with Mayor Marg At­t­ley.

BEST BLOKE: Mans­field’s Cit­i­zen of the Year Peter Coffey, with Mayor Marg At­t­ley.

HON­OURED: This year’s Mans­field Se­nior Cit­i­zen of the Year award was well earned by Noel Wil­la­ton.

TOP YOUTH: Rory Jenk­ins, Young Cit­i­zen of the Year.

OUR LO­CAL MP: Mem­ber for Eil­don Cindy McLeish.

BIG COM­MU­NITY: Des Dunn, rep­re­sent­ing the Mer­ri­jig Hall Com­mit­tee, which was awarded the Com­mu­nity Event of the Year for the hugely suc­cess­ful 2019 Mer­ri­jig War Memo­rial Ser­vice.

MOST IM­POR­TANT MEAL: Ro­tary of­fered up a free break­fast for all.
