Mansfield Courier - - Sport -

IT was a hot and humid afternoon in Yea on Saturday, February 2, for the first interclub swimming pennant for 2020.

Mansfield had a team of 19 swimmers with the challenge of taking on Kilmore, Seymour and Yea clubs.

Five Mansfield girls took on the 200m freestyle; Libby Ferguson

and Zoe Reed for the first time in a competition.

The girls did very well with Anais Gould finishing first in the 14 years and Amelie Walker touching second in the 15 years.

Addie Awty, swimming in her very first pennant did a fantastic job in both the 10-11 year freestyle and breaststroke.

Lara Gould, Helen McBurney, Ella McGuigan and Lacey Reeve worked well together in the 12U medley relay, while Hunter and River Reeve, and Elijah and Isaiah McGuigan took on both the freestyle and medley 13Om relays.

Charlie Dobson did a fantastic job and Izzy Hanratty had a great day with plenty of events on her program.

Emily Reynolds swam well in her breaststroke and freestyle races.

Mansfield’s youngest swimmers – eight year olds Josiah McGuigan and Katie Ferguson - showed that their consistent training efforts are paying off with fantastic results in their events.
