Under 17s march into semi-final

- By JAMIE LONGSTAFF

WITH all the COVID lockdown dramas behind us the Mansfield Under 17 boys put in a magnificent week on the training track honing their skills ready to take on the Imps in Wangaratta last Sunday, and during training had a visit from Mansfield Football Netball Club president Ray Robinson giving the boys some great words of encouragement.

The MFNC senior club has been a great support to us all year not only with sponsorship but with guidance and support where ever we needed it and it is very much appreciated, thank you.

Well, Sunday’s game against the Imps was a cracker, fast run and carry and pin-point disposals was the order for the day and wow did the boys deliver.

They worked so hard for four full quarters to come away with a 34 point win and booked themselves into a semi-final with Myrtleford this coming Sunday .

At training during the past week the message was to ‘compete’ at every contest and be accountable for their direct opponent and that’s what they all did.

As coaches all we ask for is the boys to believe in themselves and compete and they will get the job done every time.

We have a brilliant bunch of young men hitting their straps at the perfect time of the footy season.

Let’s get to Wangaratta this weekend and show the Myrtleford Saints that we are real contenders and are up for any challenge .
