View Street upgrades close to completion
WORKS on View Street, Mansfield, are close to completion.
The redevelopment includes approximately 7908 square metres of new sealed pavement for road and carpark construction, road reconstruction and construction of a new roundabout.
Works undertaken by local contractor Alpine Civil include road formation widening, earthworks, reforming roadside drains, installing new concrete kerb and channel, and new concrete footpaths, provision of underground drainage and culverts, and new sealed road pavement.
These works have been complemented by landscaping and tree planting undertaken by council’s parks and gardens team.
The redevelopment works provide safer, more modern and updated residential infrastructure.
Mayor Mark Holcolmbe said the project was part of building community access to the new dual court stadium constructed in partnership with the Mansfield Secondary College.
“The View Street upgrade represents an incredible amount of work that will benefit the community for many years to come,” said Cr Holcombe.
The existing intersection between Highett Street and View Street has been upgraded to a roundabout, allowing safer access to the stadium and managing increased traffic to the area.
The final stage of the project includes line marking of the new pavement and bus bay works near the Mansfield Rudolph Steiner School.
New solar street lighting and final landscaping works will be completed by the end of the year.
Funding of $360,000 was contributed by the Victorian Government’s Fixing Country Roads Program.
It is anticipated that the total cost for the View Street upgrade will come in well under budget at around $2m.
