Seniors Festival reimagined

-

THE Victorian Seniors Festival has returned with a range of engaging online activities and radio programming that is sure to engage from now until the end of the year.

In keeping with COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s festival features radio programming including Conversations with the Commissioner and a curated series of Australian music icons, while the online programming allows an intimacy we wouldn’t usually get in person and is highlighted by a tour of artists’ studios as they speak about their work.

Mayor Mark Holcombe said that while COVID-19 restrictions had changed how Seniors Festival was celebrated at Mansfield Shire, it presented different opportunities that might not usually be available.

“Celebrating Seniors Festival online and on radio might not be our first preference, the virtual nature of the events provide opportunities we might not otherwise have, such as a tour of an artist’s studio or online talks that our community can access without having to travel to Melbourne,” said Cr Holcombe.

“The festival even features one of our talented locals, Rolf Koren, an outstanding jazz vocalist and violinist and percussionist, who performs ‘Malaika’ with David Marama and Fem Belling.

“There are some great online events to participate in.

“Learn something new, check out an online art exhibition or take in a film.”
