Guys and gals combine in golf mixed ambrose
WITH the return of the dimpled white urethane ball and the restriction of no competitions, our golfing fraternity still managed to go for a stroll and enjoy some golf and camaraderie.
Tuesday had some golfers out and about enjoying a social round of two-person Ambrose off the Gold tees, however, scores were not to hand.
Thursday saw some fine weather and around 50 players out and about for a social game of Stableford.
The scores are still improving, with the best being returned by Fletcher Cooper leading the field on a countback from Rod Sargent, with Kyle Bridgeman also returning a good score.
There was at least one shot on target for the day with Mark Pearson hitting the 18th green.
The following players also played some nice shots on the par threes: John Saggers, Geoff Brown, Fred Rogers, Blair St Anne and John Koraus.
Saturday saw a social round of mixed Ambrose, as well as a men’s Ambrose; with 80 players out on the paddock the rivalry was certainly to be expected.
Although there was no official competition, bets between the groups certainly kept the players on their toes.
The best scores of the day in the men’s event came from Dean Seccull and Andrew Osborne from Dion Sheahan and Jason Christopher, while in the mixed it was the combination of Linda Terry and Rod Sargent leading the way from Kyle Bridgeman and Donna Sedgman.
Some of the great shots played were by Heather Anderson on the ninth, showing the fellas how it is done, with straightest drives on the fifth being Millie Cumming and Steve Chisholm.
Until we can return to normal competition, we will continue to have social golf on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for the fellas.
We are also trialling a new set of hole ratings for the men on their scorecards while we are in the social golf situation.
