5 MINUTES WITH LYNDA GARDENER

-

THE WAREHOUSE APPEALS BECAUSE …

It’s open-plan and light, with large windows onto a lush courtyard. It feels far away from the bustle of the city, yet in the heart of it all.

YOUR STYLE HERE IS ALL ABOUT …

My life, my collections; feeling content and totally comfortable. Nothing is too precious – it’s a home to really live in.

BEST ADVICE FOR DESIGNING A CITY WAREHOUSE?

Simplicity. Keep big spaces white and bright to let the furniture and collections speak for themselves.

WHAT DOES QUALITY TIME MEAN HERE?

Being able to relax and put my feet up, feeling inspired by all my collections and, of course, a long bath at the end of the day. PAINT COLOUR OF CHOICE? Raw White – it’s from my collection with Bauwerk.

WHAT’S ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?

Cocktail rings, new and vintage. I’m a huge collector, so they are always near. Plus books and a sprig of green from the garden.

FAVOURITE POSSESSION?

Oh, that’s tough – everything! I am very lucky to be the current custodian of an original portrait painting of my great-grandmother, from the late 19th century. Also very special to me are all my parents’ love letters from their courting days in the late 1940s.

BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE?

It always comes back to the bathtub.

WHAT TUNES ARE PLAYING?

My playlist has a lot of Nick Cave

SIGNATURE HOME SCENT?

Essential oils – lemongrass is a favourite – and I’m in love with my Le Labo Santal 33 perfume and wear it daily. The house is infused with this scent – it’s me all over.

THIS SPACE MAKES YOU FEEL …

At home, safe and happy.
