GET the LOOK

There’s a moment before sunset when your whole body glows. Here’s how to get your makeup and hair set for the golden hour

MOLTEN METAL

Melding silver and gold, this look lets your creativity run free. “Use a small brush to apply the pigment,” said Linda Jefferyes, who used loose pigment for the look. For home, try washes of cream metallics, placing the pigment under the lower lashes and into the inner and outer eye corners. Add mascara and lip balm but keep the rest of the complexion pared back.

TWO-TONE LIPS

Bitten and blurred, this candy-toned lip is created with careful placement of colour. Jefferyes added peachy tones to the outer lip to create shape, then with a lip brush added in a pop of purpley-pink to the centre. A touch of gloss over the top makes this look pop.

AZURE EYES

With the rest of the face nearly bare, teal shades look utterly modern. Jefferyes created a soft wing effect by extending colour from the outer eyes and added a pop of light with silver at the inner corners. The undone hair is soft and pretty thanks to stylist Daren Borthwick “pulling some baby hairs out to fame the face”.

JEWEL TONES

Wet-look hair gives this the edge to keep it from being too pretty. Borthwick dampened down hair with water before using a thickening spray and gel to prevent flakes. “Then, rake hair back with a thick comb and fingers,” he said. “Keeping the whole look off the face looks really chic.”

CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque Ultrawear Shine Liquid Lip Colour in Unlimited, $58; RAHUA Smoothing Hair Balm, $40.55; R+CO Bleu Magnifier Thickening Spray, $56; R+CO Freeway Defining Spray Gel, $45.

PRETTY FLUSH

To get the depth of colour, Jefferyes applied a creamy matte pigment to lids, temples and cheeks. “Work the colour into the temple, onto the apple and along the cheek bone,” said Jefferyes, who used a soft brush to blend for a “super-soft feel”. To give the eyes added depth, she added liner but skipped mascara and any colour on the lips.

MILK MAKEUP Lip & Cheek Blush Mini in Flip, $31; MECCA MAX Pout Pencil in Luxe, $14; MAVALA Lipstick in Nectarine, $27.95.
