Two new award hon­ours

ABO­RIG­I­NAL and Tor­res Strait Is­lan­der peo­ples and the LGBTI com­mu­nity will be rep­re­sented at this year’s Queens­land Men­tal Health Week Achieve­ment Awards with their own award cat­e­gories.

The Queens­land Men­tal Health Week Achieve­ment Awards recog­nise and cel­e­brate the achieve­ments of in­di­vid­u­als, groups and or­gan­i­sa­tions work­ing tire­lessly to re­duce stigma and sup­port and em­power those liv­ing with men­tal ill­ness.

Open Minds, not-for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tion that works with peo­ple to en­hance their men­tal health and well­be­ing, added the new cat­e­gories to the awards to ac­knowl­edge the chal­lenges faced by those work­ing to sup­port the two com­mu­ni­ties.

The awards are pre­sented dur­ing Queens­land Men­tal Health Week, which runs from Oc­to­ber 6-14.
