Two new award honours
ABORIGINAL and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the LGBTI community will be represented at this year’s Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards with their own award categories.
The Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations working tirelessly to reduce stigma and support and empower those living with mental illness.
Open Minds, not-for-profit organisation that works with people to enhance their mental health and wellbeing, added the new categories to the awards to acknowledge the challenges faced by those working to support the two communities.
The awards are presented during Queensland Mental Health Week, which runs from October 6-14.
