Line of a problem
WHY did our local council decide to destroy the aesthetic beauty of our Mount Coolum boardwalk by painting a glaringly white centre line (“Moon Trail”)?
Pedestrian traffic is not sufficient to warrant the need for such a line. While other locals on our walk have joked about it by saying “be careful you don’t step over to our side”, it seems bureaucracy has gone mad.
Not only have they wasted resources in creating the line, they have destroyed the aesthetic appeal of the meandering boardwalk. Where was the community consultation about the ‘need’ for such a line? Common courtesy has so far been sufficient to manage any perceived congestion.
Signage along the walkways insisting that cyclists sound their bell or voice their approach from behind to alert walkers, would have been money better spent.
The current signage indicates it is a “trial”. Let’s hope there is a review and the decision made to restore the boardwalk to its natural beauty. — CHRISTINE BUGANEY Mount Coolum
