Ensuring Christmas is merry
THIS Christmas, the Salvation Army is encouraging residents to connect with their community – whether by participating in activities, lending a hand to someone in need or reaching out to the Salvos for help.
Christmas is one of the hardest times of year for Australians doing it tough, but Maroochydore Salvation Army officers Garry and Sue Cox say just a small contribution can make a big difference in helping to give hope where it’s needed most.
“At Christmas, the Salvos will serve over 100,000 meals, distribute more than 500,000 gifts and toys and support more than 70,000 families in need,” Garry said.
If you require assistance at Christmas with food and gifts, phone 5443 8248.
If you need emergency assistance phone 1300 371 288 (9am–5pm, Monday to Friday).
Not only is the Salvation Army running its annual Christmas Cheer operation to provide toys for those in need, but it is also putting on a community carols event.
Residents are invited to attend the Salvation Army’s Carols on the church corner of Broad Meadows Road and Maroochydore Road on December 16.
