Speak up about two big killers

RES­I­DENTS have the op­por­tu­nity to have their say on the fu­ture of two of Aus­tralia’s big­gest killers – heart dis­ease and stroke.

A sur­vey is now open as part of the Na­tional Heart and Stroke Ac­tion Plan, a joint pro­ject of the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment, Stroke Foun­da­tion and Heart Foun­da­tion.

The on­line sur­vey will pro­vide the com­mu­nity with a voice on what is needed to im­prove stroke and heart dis­ease pre­ven­tion, treat­ment, re­search and sup­port in Aus­tralia.

The sur­vey feed­back will be vi­tal to the devel­op­ment of a Na­tional Heart and Stroke Ac­tion Plan.

“We want to hear from peo­ple from all walks of life, rang­ing from those di­rectly touched by these dis­eases to car­ers and health pro­fes­sion­als,” Stroke Foun­da­tion CEO Sharon McGowan said.

The sur­vey should take no more than 15 min­utes and is open un­til De­cem­ber 14.

The Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment has pro­vided $170,000 to­wards the devel­op­ment of the ac­tion plan. It is the first of its kind and will help guide re­source al­lo­ca­tion to life-sav­ing in­ter­ven­tions.
