Have fun and love working in garden

Maroochy Weekly - - LIFE - WILL WATERFORD

Owner of Caloundra Garden and Pet Supplies GARDENING is supposed to be fun, so if you are not having fun, you may just have to change a few things to suit your lifestyle.

If you don’t have time to mow the lawn, put in more garden areas. They really do take less time to look after.

If you don’t have time to water the garden, buy plants that are drought tolerant.

If you think the water is too expensive, put some sugar cane mulch on the garden to help stop evaporation.

If the soil is still dry after you water it, add some Penetraide soil wetter, this will make your soil absorb the water again.

Did you know that by adding one per cent more organic matter to your soil, it increases the water holding capacity of 15 plus litres per square metre?

with chemicals, use one of the great organic alternatives.

Remember, you don’t have to kill every insect in the garden.

If you are not sure what fertiliser, herbicide or insecticide to use, just ask at your garden supply shop. They will help you.

If your soil is so bad it won’t grow anything, add some Garden Mate Rock minerals with microbes.

If you think gardening costs to much money, grow edible crops such as fruit trees and add a vegetable garden.

There is no reason not to love your garden.

It should be smiling back at you, and saying thank you.
