Coast groms took on the best from across the country on home sand when the Woolworths Surfer Grom Comps Series hit Alexandra Headland last weekend.

Buddina’s Stella Green and Peregian Beach’s Oli Taylor narrowly missed out on the under 12 girls title, being edged out by Currumbin’s Jordy Halford.

Green, who has performed well all series, said she was disappointed not to come away with the win, but felt she’d performed strong.

“The waves were great all event but I was unlucky there in the end and Jordy managed to pull off some great rides,” she said.

Wurtulla’s Elijah Magner also narrowly missed out on a win, placing third in of the boys events.

Landen Smales (Noosa Heads) was the only Coast grom to claim a win at the Alexandra Headland event, taking out the under 12 boys division.

“It was pretty good out there, the waves were fun and pretty big,” Smales said.

“I’m definitely happy with the win today.”

The next round of the series will be held on the Gold Coast from January 9-10.
