Three-Way Challenge
You said in a past issue you look forward to building challenges— well, one of my favorite articles of yours was back in 2013, when you had a three- way budget gamer’s build, where three editors put together different systems, picking whatever parts they wanted for a total of $ 750 (including the cost of the OS). It was really fun to see the differences in benchmarks between a weak CPU, but strong graphics card, vice versa, and middle of the road. I would suggest you repeat this event, if not make it an annual one. In the same way that Dream Machine exemplifies the best of the best, this would be a great “bum fights” contrast. Also, I would suggest not “cheating” with a Linux install, the way you do in your budget gamer build recommendation. I’m all for people using Linux, but recommending it to avid gamers on a budget I think is a little disingenuous, due to game compatibility.
