Maximum PC - - BASICS BUILD GUIDE -

What would any modern system be without a solid, quick, and dependable hard drive behind its OS? Nothing, that’s what. Sure, those old spinning platters may be far cheaper than their flash-based rivals, but nothing compares to having the instantaneous response of an SSD. It’s one of the biggest leaps you can make as a PC enthusiast, swapping from a hard drive to an SSD, and we certainly wouldn’t build a system nowadays without one. Whether it’s 2.5-inch or M.2, there’s an SSD for everyone, at any budget.

Because we’re on a tight budget, we’ve gone for a 120GB model for our build. It’s not the flashiest of drives, but it does pack impressive 500MB/s read and 450MB/s write speeds into its incredibly affordable frame.
