Silence is Golden

-

I have a suggestion for a future article: Techniques and recommendations on minimizing your PC’s noise. The article would explain what to look for when purchasing case fans, CPU coolers, fan connection and control methods, rubber grommets, sound-proofing panels, CPU fan versus liquid cooling, and so on. The article may include recommendations for top- rated quiet products, such as cases, fans, CPU coolers, GPUs, and so on. Lastly, the article would test the impact of these quiet components, and the methods of silencing through software and physical upgrades.

Just an idea I’d like to see. I’ve been a subscriber for eight years, and love your magazine. If this article has been published before and I missed it (or forgot about it), please let me know which issue it’s in.

DEXTER, RESPONDS: This is something we’ve done in the past, but it’s worth looking at again, as a lot has changed, and we’ve got at least three new generations of hardware to try to keep quiet again. The prevalence of all- inone coolers, combined with some hot, hot hardware, should make for some interesting compromises. Watch this space.
