Compact Choices

I have been subscribing to Maximum PC since 2006. It’s a great magazine, and it has helped me in my desktop builds. I have been building and upgrading desktops since the days of the 286 PCs. I have recently begun to

purchase laptops, and I was wondering if there was a plan to add laptop reviews to your magazine to match the “Budget,” ”Mid-Range,” and “Turbo” builds for desktops? It may not be feasible to add this to your magazine on a monthly basis, but could it be added on a quarterly or semi-annual basis? There are so many laptops on the market, I for one would like to see laptops rated as the “Best Budget,” “Best Mid-Range,” or “Best Turbo” for future purchases.

EXECUTIVE EDITOR, ALAN DEXTER, RESPONDS: Value is a core consideration when reviewing laptops, and it’s something that is already taken into account for every review. This being Maximum PC, we do tend to look at more high- end “Turbo” and mid- range laptops, than budget offerings, but it’s a reasonable enough idea, and we will bear it in mind going forward.
