LG 34WK95U

-

Oddly, this is currently the trickiest category of all. That’s because it’s simply not possible to combine all the very best available technologies in any single screen. If you want 4K and high refresh, for instance, you can only have it on a 27-inch gaming panel.

We’re also tempted by Dell’s 8K beast, the UP3218K. It’s very, very difficult to turn down 7680x4320 pixels. The problem is that’s all the monitor has to offer; it’s a one-trick pony, even if that trick is pretty stellar. It’s also arguably a bit of a kludge, what with its requirement for dual DP cables for 8K at 60Hz.

Instead, we’ll vote for LG’s hot new 5K2K monitor, the 34WK95U. It’s a 34-inch model, but packs 5120x2160 pixels, so it neatly defenestrates our main reservation with its mid-range sibling, the LG 34UB88-P, namely its lack of vertical resolution.

What’s more, it’s packed with awesome features. There’s proper HDR support in the form of VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, plus Nano IPS panel tech, so the visuals promise to be simply sizzling. Rounding the package out nicely is Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C connectivity.

?? ?? LG’s hot new 5K2K monitor is our premium panel pick.
