AOC U3277PWQU

A quality 32-inch VA panel with full 4K or UHD resolution for just $330? Just 18 months ago, that would have seemed impossible. But a screen that fits that description is sitting next to the MaximumPC test rig as we write.

It’s the AOC U3277PWQU, and just one of many monitors that make up the broader 32-inch UHD or 3840x2160 pixel segment. It’s a category that has exploded over the last 12 months, and for good reason. The UHD resolution provides oodles of desktop space. Combining that with a 32-inch diagonal is also a good compromise. Arguably, both the web and Windows aren’t quite ready for true high DPI displays, and this monitor class works well at 125 percent scaling. At the same time, the size and resolution work out at 137 pixels per inch, and thus it’s usefully sharper than, say, a 27inch 1440p monitor.

This AOC model isn’t perfect—the color balance is a little oversaturated—but for the money, it’s magnificent, and if you want to spend a bit more, similar screens with more accurate colors and even HDR capability can be had for as little as $500. It really is a great time to buy a screen.
