to trade out that 1070 Ti for a 1080, but the price difference is nearly double that of the Zotac card we found. “Frustrating” doesn’t quite capture the feeling. “Confusing” might be a better word. In our testing, we’ve found that the 1070 Ti is only around three to five frames per second slower than the 1080. All in all, though, this issue saw little change, apart from that new GPU and the HDD. The lingering tendrils of Black Friday still seem to be creeping into our mid-range rig, and we’ve managed to save a grand total of $80 in the process. Not too shabby, huh? Next on the upgrade agenda would be a better-specced motherboard, potentially the Asus Prime X470-Pro. Because it comes in at $177 right now, that’s a $67 increase, which would still keep us below our $1,400 budget, but also provide some seriously improved connectivity.
