The art and craft of brewing beer

McIvor Times - - NEWS - By GUS MCCUBBING

A LOCAL brewery showed off its first in-house made pale ale, lager and IPA to the joy of craft beer aficionados last week.

Palling Bros director and brewer Peter Pichut said the release followed the brewery coming online with its hightech equipment and natural gas.

‘‘We have invested heavily in the latest brewing technology, and natural gas being quick to heat with precise temperature control, makes it the best energy source for brewers,’’ he said.

‘‘We looked at other energy sources but found natural gas offered greater efficiency, control and convenience.’’

But natural gas was also chosen, Mr Pichut said, for the comfort of his patrons.

‘‘In these cold conditions we often have guests comment on how warm the entire bar area is — we placed radiant panel heaters throughout the bar area and I think when the temp drops outside, the warmth is definitely an added bonus,’’ he said.

Palling Bros Brewery, open Thursday to Sunday from 11 am, is at 168 High St, Heathcote.

Palling Bros director Peter Pichut says they have invested heavily in the latest brewing technology.
