Saint’s HDFNL honour
ONE of the Saint’s club stalwarts has been honoured with a Heathcote and District Football Netball League life membership.
Tanya O’Halloran made her debut in the junior competition in 1989 and won the HDFNL best and fairest in her first senior year in the competition.
And now, almost 30 years on, the senior player was recognised for her 200 A grade games and 350 game performance with the Saints.
O’Halloran, a Heathcote girl through and through, said she relished the opportunity to play for her hometown club and often travelled back of a weekend.
“The Saints are in a really great space club-wise and the culture at the club is really positive,” she said.
“Because I’ve played for so long I’ve seen the ups and downs but at the moment under the leadership of Rebecca Dickinson and Jack Paisley there’s a fantastic culture.”
A previous captain, coach, and mentor to many, O’Halloran said she will be a spectator for the next season to watch her daughter Tori play netball.
“That’s not to say I won’t be back on the court — I’m not ready to retire,” O’Halloran said.
“I’m honoured to receive this and I’ve been blessed to play for as long as I have without injury and at a great club with great people.”
Heathcote netballer Tanya O’Halloran has been awarded life membership of the Heathcote District Football Netball League for her distinguished years of service.
