McIvor Times - - LOCAL CLASSIES -

HEATHCOTE Panthers under 14 basketball boys are through to another grand final tonight, determined to go one better than they did last season and take the ultimate prize.

The Panthers, having finished third on the ladder, defeated second placed Generals Magic in last week’s preliminary final to secure the grand final spot in the Bendigo Basketball Association winter competition.

Determined, defensive play from Oliver Ayers and Jesse Bruce kept the Generals’ scorers frustrated for much of the game.

Speedy Daniel Koopmans helped get the ball up the court. Daniel Butler, Lincoln Lowther and Thomas Johnson finished off with the baskets to defeat the Generals 32-23 at the final siren.

The boys meet the formidable ladder-leader Aztec Tig- ers in the under 14 division three winter season grand final tonight at 6.30pm.

After a brilliant season from the young ballers, the Heathcote Panthers bowed out 16-21.
