Dog disgust

AS A visitor to Heathcote for the past four weeks, it is with dismay and disgust that we walk our dog along the paths beside McIvor Creek and Barrack St footpath and see firsthand the amount of dog doo left behind by irresponsible dog owners.

On the bitumen path behind the town pool, there regularly seems to be dog doo droppings every three or four metres. Barrack St footpath also seems to have its fair share of droppings either on the grass or concrete path. It does not appear to be an isolated incident, as fresh droppings seem to appear on a daily basis.

Perhaps council should place doggy bags along walking paths or send a compliance officer to these areas to check and ensure that all pet owners are doing the right thing.

It is a shame that a small minority ruin walks for others. Heathcote and surrounds is such a beautiful place to visit only to be shamed by this type of behaviour. R B MacDonald
