Stand by for a ‘Santa selfie’

McIvor Times - - NEWS -

HE IS red and round with beard and happy smile. Santa – or at least, his life-size replica — has arrived in Heathcote, just in time for Christmas.

Based at Flossy’s Home De´cor, 167 High St, owner Tracey Westhorpe said Santa was giving local families a fun experience to treasure.

“I bought the life-sized mannequin for the community to enjoy,” Ms Westhorpe said. The retail operator, affectionately known as Flossy, said it’s a quick, fun and free alternative to visiting a real-life Santa.

“This can be a really tough time of year financially,” Ms Westhorpe said. “Heathcote’s Santa is a mannequin, but he’s very life-like”.

For people who can’t afford traditional photos, the opportunity to take a selfie or a photo of their family can help lessen the impact of missing out.

Newcomer to Heathcote Cherie Nickels said her children weren’t fazed by the life-sized mannequin. “We did get traditional photos done elsewhere,” Mrs Nickels said. “But my baby, Aldane, cried the whole time because he was scared. With the mannequin, he was relaxed and happy. And the photos turned out great”. Ms Westhorpe confirmed everyone is invited. To take your own photo, drop in to Flossy’s at 167 High St, Heathcote. BYO camera/phone. Appointments are not necessary.
