Victoria's Favourite Beaches

Melbourne Official Visitor Guide - - Regional Victoria -

There are some amazing stretches of sand around the state, but these four are outstanding.

01 Squeaky Beach

Run along the sand at this Wilsons Promontory beach and, yep, it makes a squeaking noise. It’s a beautiful spot, too, but unpatrolled, so take care. Surfers will love the break.

02 Johanna Beach

All along the Great Ocean Road you’ll find world-class beaches, but this one is often quite deserted. The surf can be huge, but it’s a stunning place for a long walk.

03 Cape Paterson

There are two beaches at this South Gippsland town. The bay beach is protected and lined with rock pools, so is great for families, while the surf beach has great waves and is patrolled during summer.

04 Bells Beach

No list of awesome beaches can leave this one out. Famous around the world for its two righthand breaks, it’s also the home of the Rip Curl Pro surf comp, held in April each year.
