Go Be­yond Mel­bourne

Travel from Mel­bourne to the Yarra Val­ley and Dan­de­nong Ranges, Phillip Is­land and on to the white beaches and winer­ies of the Morn­ing­ton and Bel­lar­ine Penin­su­las. Put to­gether a three-, four- or five-day jour­ney wind­ing through lush valleys and pris­tine coastal land­scapes.

Syd­ney–Mel­bourne Tour­ing Routes

Chart a course from Mel­bourne to Syd­ney (via Can­berra) on the Her­itage Drive, ex­plor­ing his­toric gold rush towns, award-win­ning vine­yards and the mighty Mur­ray River along the way. Al­ter­na­tively, the 1160-kilo­me­tre Coastal Drive hugs the south­east coast of Aus­tralia, tak­ing in na­tional parks, pris­tine beaches and amaz­ing na­tive wildlife.

Great South­ern Tour­ing Route

The 850-kilo­me­tre Great South­ern Tour­ing Route takes in the breath­tak­ing beauty of the Great Ocean Road, rich Abo­rig­i­nal cul­ture in the Grampians and the in­trigu­ing his­tory of the Gold­fields.

Great Alpine Road

The Great Alpine Road ex­tends from the High Coun­try re­gion to East Gipp­s­land, wind­ing through lofty moun­tains, pine forests, bush­land and past rivers, vine­yards and farms. The 308-kilo­me­tre tour­ing route got its name for be­ing the moun­tain equiv­a­lent of Vic­to­ria’s fa­mous Great Ocean Road.

Toll Roads

Some ma­jor roads around Mel­bourne carry tolls, which means you need to pay to use them. If you use the CI­TYLINK or EASTLINK toll roads, you’ll need to pay in ad­vance or within three days of travel via the ap­pli­ca­ble op­er­a­tor’s web­site (see be­low). Al­ter­na­tively, you can call CI­TYLINK or EASTLINK (see web­site for phone num­bers) to make a pay­ment over the phone, or pur­chase a pass over the counter at a post of­fice.
