Af­ter touch­ing down at Mel­bourne or Avalon Air­port, you have a num­ber of op­tions for mak­ing your way into the city.

SKY­BUS

SKY­BUS op­er­ates 24 hours, seven days a week and pro­vides an ex­press ser­vice ev­ery 10 min­utes from Mel­bourne Air­port to South­ern Cross Sta­tion in the city. There are three Sky­bus stops just out­side Ter­mi­nal 1, Ter­mi­nal 3 and Ter­mi­nal 4. Tick­ets can be bought on­line and shown to the driver in pa­per form or on your smart phone. Al­ter­na­tively, you can visit one of the SKY­BUS ticket booths near the ter­mi­nals. A oneway trip to the city costs $18 per adult and $18 to $36 for fam­i­lies.

Star Bus

Star Bus Mel­bourne Shut­tle Ser­vice of­fers trans­fers from Mel­bourne Air­port to your ac­com­mo­da­tion in the CBD or in­ner sub­urbs. The ser­vice runs seven days a week from 6am to 6pm, with depar­tures ev­ery 20 min­utes. The Star Bus leaves from Bus Zone L (oth­er­wise known as Groups and Char­ters). Book­ings can be made on­line or via phone. The price for a one-way trip to the city is $20 per adult and

$20 to $25 for most in­ner ur­ban des­ti­na­tions.

Blue­bird Air­port Shut­tle

This pre­booked door-to-door air­port ser­vice op­er­ates to any ad­dress within the CBD and in­ner sub­urbs. Prices start at $49 re­turn for an adult ($25 one way). Book­ings can be made on­line or over the phone.

Taxi

You can catch a taxi from des­ig­nated taxi ranks lo­cated on the ground floor out­side Ter­mi­nal 1 and be­tween Ter­mi­nal 2 and 3 at Mel­bourne Air­port. Taxi fares vary based on dis­tance, lo­ca­tion and time of travel. You can use the taxi fare es­ti­ma­tor on the Taxi Ser­vices Com­mis­sion’s web­site to ob­tain an ap­prox­i­mate cost.

Avalon Ar­rivals

If you’re fly­ing into Avalon Air­port, you can now catch a ride to South­ern Cross Sta­tion in Mel­bourne’s CBD on a SKY­BUS Avalon Ex­press. Meet­ing all de­part­ing and ar­riv­ing flights, pas­sen­gers will have ac­cess to free Wi-Fi, easy tick­et­ing op­tions and a reg­u­lar, re­li­able ser­vice. You can buy tick­ets on­line or at ded­i­cated e-kiosks at Avalon Air­port or South­ern Cross Sta­tion’s Air­port Gate­way. One-way tick­ets from Avalon to the city are $22 for adults (or $42 re­turn) and chil­dren 16 and un­der travel free when booked with an adult fare. Avalon Air­port also has a taxi rank di­rectly out­side the ter­mi­nal and book­ings can be made by calling 131 008. For trav­ellers dis­em­bark­ing at Avalon and head­ing to Gee­long, Bel­lar­ine or the Surf Coast, catch a lift with Mur­rell Group’s Avalon Air­port Shut­tle.
