City Am­bas­sadors

Dressed in their dis­tinc­tive red uni­forms, City Am­bas­sadors pro­vide a mo­bile in­for­ma­tion ser­vice in the city and can help with ad­vice on shop­ping, events and how to get around.

Mon–Sat, 10am to 4pm; Sun, 12pm to 3pm (ex­clud­ing Good Fri­day and Christ­mas Day)

Mel­bourne Greeter Ser­vice

En­joy a free, two- to four-hour walk­ing ori­en­ta­tion of the city, con­ducted by a trained vol­un­teer. Ori­en­ta­tions in English de­part the Mel­bourne Vis­i­tor Cen­tre at Fed­er­a­tion Square daily. Ori­en­ta­tions in other lan­guages are avail­able on se­lect days. De­part­ing daily at 9.30am (ex­clud­ing Good Fri­day and Christ­mas Day). Book­ings are es­sen­tial.

The Mel­bourne Vis­i­tor Hub at Hamer Hall is po­si­tioned at the gate­way to Mel­bourne’s creative and cul­tural precinct. Speak with City of Mel­bourne’s friendly and knowl­edge­able vol­un­teers to help plan your visit, in­clud­ing what to do and see in Mel­bourne and for in­for­ma­tion on the precinct. The Mel­bourne Vis­i­tor Hub at Hamer Hall is fully ac­ces­si­ble with re­stroom fa­cil­i­ties, a river­side cafe and free Wi-Fi avail­able.

A visit to Cooks’ Cot­tage in the her­itage-listed Fitzroy Gar­dens is a must when ex­plor­ing Mel­bourne. Step back in time and learn about life in the 18th cen­tury with cen­turies-old an­tiques, a de­light­ful English cot­tage gar­den, in­for­ma­tion on James Cook’s ad­ven­tures and vol­un­teers dressed in 18th-cen­tury cos­tumes.
