Kids hang out at Alfred Cove playground
GOODSTART Early Learning Alfred Cove is encouraging kids to have safe play through the opening of a new nature playground.
The playground includes monkey bars, climbing apparatus, tunnel, bridge, yarning circle, large bat and space to sit and rest.
Centre director Lorraine Knight said the idea of the nature playground was to update their play space as it was looking worn and tired.
“From start to finish, from the proposal to the final piece of equipment being placed, it was something like 18 months,” she said. “With the nature playground, it is a calming environment with the natural colours but also somewhere the children can challenge themselves, problem solve, estimate and learn resilience.
“The children can experiment physically by using the new equipment for both upper and lower-body strength.
“Being outdoors also stimulates the brain; therefore it prepares them to continuously learn.”
The playground will be officially opened on Saturday, October 27 from 10am to 2pm, when it will be free and open to the community.
