FIRST PERSON
KATIE NOONAN SINGER/SONGWRITER
I was happiest when … I first saw my child’s face. You wouldn’t know it but … I didn’t get my driver’s licence until my second bub was born in 2006 — at age 29. My most embarrassing moment … hmmmm, projectile vomiting on stage was a good one — gastro I caught on the road in Tamworth. The last time I cried was … watching the film Back to Burgundy/Ce Qui Nous Lie — gorgeous movie. The last book I read was … Walking on Trampolines by Brisbane writer/ journalist Frances Whiting — it’s awesome. My favourite films are … Aussie films and French films. I generally love most of what I see from both of these countries. I really want to … do more exercise. My guilty pleasure is … a good, big-bodied South Australian red. Life has taught me … to be kind — to yourself and to others. I’m about to … see The Carole King Musical with my awesome mother-in-law Reverend Jacqueline Hurren. My first job was … as a drive-through chick at Macca’s. Nailed it. Subsequently became vegetarian soon after. My most memorable work-related moment is … getting to work alongside the beautiful human that is Michael Leunig. It has been all sorts of lovely. What I enjoy most about my work is … that music is the maker of friends and connects us like nothing else can. Katie Noonan will perform as part of her jazz trio Elixir alongside cartoonist and poet Michael Leunig and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra for Gratitude & Grief — a magical evening of live art, music and poetry — at Federation Concert Hall on Friday, September 28 at 7.30pm.
