Get in the spirit of Christmas at a Community Christmas Carols events funded by Hobart City Council today and tomorrow. There will be carols today at John Turnbull Park (6–8pm, 2-16 Creek Rd, Lenah Valley); Guilford Young College (6–9pm, 94 Barrack St, Hobart); and Lauderdale Primary School Oval (Compassion Carols Under the Stars, 6.30pm–9pm). On Sunday, join the singing at Mt Stuart Memorial Hall (5.30pm– 8.30pm, 7a Raymont Terrace, Mt Stuart); or Ogilvie High School (6–8pm, 228 New Town Rd, New Town). Still got Christmas shopping to do? Check out this market of unique, locally made gifts. This special Christmas market is Hobart Handmade Market’s final one of the year and will feature 90 stalls, four food vans, a barbecue and coffee van. The stalls will include everything from handmade chopping boards, preserves and jewellery to candles, bath bombs and even slime. The event includes entertainm­ent for the kids as well as a playground and is pram and wheelchair accessible. Search for Hobart Handmade Makers Market on facebook. The event will be held at the school at 271 East Derwent Highway, Geilston Bay.
