READING GROUP TOP PICKS FROM 2018

Mercury (Hobart) - Magazine - - UPFRONT -

Our Reading Groups voted for their favourite books of the year (featuring both Reading Group selections and others), and these are their top three.

1. A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW by AMOR TOWLES PB $19.99

Darkly funny.

On 21 June, 1922, unrepentant Russian aristocrat, Count Alexander Rostov, is sentenced to indefinite house arrest in an attic room of a Moscow luxury apartment.

2. ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS COMPLETELY FINE by GAIL HONEYMAN PB $19.99

We’re dubbing this the psychological Rosie Project. Romance, naturally, but also a wee bit clever.

3. WARLIGHT by MICHAEL ONDAATJE PB $29.99

Peerless prose and unforgettable characters make Ondaatjte one of the finest writers around. No exception here for the author of The English Patient, once again revisiting the ravages of WWII.
