POTS OF TREASURE

-

Next weekend there’s a big treat installed for plant lovers and collectors, when Garden Clubs Australia joins forces with Woodbank at Longley, to present a Plant Fair.

The Fair is organised by The Southern Tasmania Branch of GCA.

Convenor Heather Pryor says there will be 20 plant stalls selling interesting plants and garden-related products, along with lots of community and special interest garden groups.

Some of the treasures for sale include perennials, orchids and fuchsias. There are also succulents and vireya rhododendrons and lots more. The backdrop to the sale is the beautiful Woodbank garden, which features many rare plants collected by Ken Gillanders OAM over his 50 years as a plant collector and nurseryman.

The garden is planted around three large lakes and winds through nearly 2ha. Woodbank is now owned and cared for by owners Kerry and Harry van den Berg. Ken will also be on hand to talk to visitors.

The plant sale is being held over the weekend of October 5-6 from 10am-4pm at Woodbank, which is at 2040 Huon Rd, Longley. Entry is adults $10 (children free), which includes tea or coffee.
